Breanna Burns is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist from the State of Kansas. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Breanna has a primary focus of working with those who are experiencing sexual issues and disorders. Along with her work in private practice with New Perspectives, she has been working as a part of Clinical Associates, PA, to provide group therapy for adult sexual offenders for Kansas Department of Corrections in the Wichita and Hutchinson areas since 2013.

Breanna celebrates the diversity of each family unit. She enjoys working with the entire spectrum of family systems: individuals, couples (married or unmarried), as well as variety of backgrounds, sexual orientations, ages, and cultures.

Breanna has completed various trainings in Couples Communication, Psychoeducation, Sand Tray Therapy, ThriveSphere, Thinking for Change, and UCC-Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Sexual Offenders.

Breanna graduated from Kansas State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies and Human Services. While at K-State, Breanna was involved with the Home Based Family Therapy Partnership and completed a Certification for Conflict Resolution.

After graduation, Breanna worked for Community Psychiatric Service Treatment (CPST) assisting consumers in identifying strategies or treatment options associated with individual mental illness. She engaged in face-to-face interventions aimed at minimizing the negative effects of mental illness, emotional disturbances or associated environmental stressors that interfere with daily life.

In 2011, Breanna became a Targeted Case Manager for South Central Mental Health Counseling Center. She coordinated services, identified resources for children and their families, assisted families and treatment providers in treatment planning, as well as collaborated with individuals and agencies involved in treatment.

In 2013, Ms. Burns graduated from Friends University with a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. During her time at Friends, Breanna was selected to become a member of the Delta Kappa International Honor Society.

In addition, Breanna completed a clinical internship providing services to clients in the Wichita area at Harbor House Women’s Shelter, Women’s Initiative Network and the Center on Family Living located on the Friends University campus.
